The Yaddo experience.

A talk with Yaddo President Elaina Richardson.

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation recently awarded Yaddo a major grant to fund residencies for artists from their eight key cities, including Akron. This presentation for our local artists is part of a national effort by Yaddo to identify and recruit eight of the highest-level talented artists from those cities, with special efforts dedicated to underrepresented communities and emerging art forms.

About Yaddo
Yaddo is an artists’ community located in Saratoga Springs, New York. Over the years, it has inspired creative individuals, both established and emerging, from Aaron Copland, Truman Capote, and Jacob Lawrence to Lisa Cholodenko, Walter Mosley, Susan Orlean and Martin Puryear. It was founded in 1900 to offer creative artists the rare gift of a supportive environment with uninterrupted time to think, experiment, and create. Since then, Yaddo has welcomed more than 6,000 artists working in one or more of the following media: film, literature, musical composition, visual arts and performance art. Individual & collaborative applications are accepted twice a year. Find out more atwww.yaddo.org. For more information, please contact Lesley Leduc at Yaddo at lleduc@yaddo.orgor 518.584.0746.
