We invite you to experience the thoughtful, well crafted, delicious, and surprising work of Ruth Scott Blackson.

Line After Line showcases a selection of new and recent works on paper including drawings, books, and collage, each of which have been informed by Scott Blackson’s sculptural sensibility. The materials used in the creation of these works ranges from construction paper, polymer paper ribbon, and ink. All of these process-based works investigate the abstract quality of the line.

"Marking space is a ritual configuration of lines. Such a space is there for projection and protection. My desire to make a line on a surface or through a space is a response to the environment I am confronted by.

The line confirms my habitation and signals my presence, and once I am gone my absence."

— Ruth Scott Blackson
