Call for entries : Victory for Tyler: Works on Paper and Posters 2011

Tyler School of Art’s biennial juried alumni exhibition which benefits Tyler’s exhibitions and public programs, as well as the alumni association’s support fund.

Eligibility
All Tyler School of Art Alumni who create works on paper. This includes drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, collage, three-dimensional works, and any other work executed on paper. This year there are two jurors – one juror for Works on Paper and one juror for Posters.

Juror: Robert Storr

Robert Storr was appointed Dean of the Yale School of Art in 2006. Previous to this, he was the Rosalie Solow Professor of Modern Art at the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University. In the spring of 2007 Robert directed the 2007 Venice Biennale, the first American invited to assume that position. From 1990 to 2002 he was the Curator in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), stepping down as Senior Curator in 2002. Professor Storr’s accomplishments span the art world. He is a painter, an art historian and critic, and a prodigious writer about the theory and practice of Art. He has been the curator of many exhibitions at the MoMA and elsewhere, and the author of dozens of monographs and catalogues. He also organized a number of reinstallations of MoMA’s permanent collection, covering such topics as abstraction and the modern grotesque. Professor Storr received his BA from Swarthmore College in 1972 and his MFA in the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1978. He and his wife, Rosamund Morley, an accomplished musician, live in Brooklyn with their two daughters.

Juror: Luba Lukova

Internationally recognized, New York based Luba Lukova is regarded as one of the most distinctive image-makers working today. Her solo exhibitions have been held at UNESCO, Paris; DDD Gallery, Osaka, Japan; La MaMa, New York; Qbox Gallery, Athens, Greece; and The Art Institute of Boston. Her many awards include Grand Prix Savignac at the International Poster Salon, Paris; Golden Pencil Award at One Club, New York; and Gold Medal at the International Poster Biennial, Mexico City. She has received commissions from The New York Times, Time, Adobe Systems, Sony Music, Canon, Harvard University, the Cultural Ministry of France, and the War Resisters League. Her evocative theatre posters have graced numerous stage productions in the U.S. and Europe. Lukova's work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Library of Congress, Washington, DC; and Bibliotheque nationale de France. She is the author of the critically acclaimed Social Justice poster portfolio, containing passionate visual reactions to many of the pressing issues of our time.
