Call for Submissions : The PAFA Film Project, David Lynch

The PAFA Film Project is designed to engage filmmakers with PAFA’s David Lynch: The Unified Field exhibition.  Films submitted are encouraged to be inspired by art, PAFA’s David Lynch exhibition, and the city of Philadelphia — a city that Lynch has said to be both fantastic and terrifying. 

There is no entry fee for The PAFA Film Project.

Official Rules

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Films submitted to The PAFA Film Project must be an original video and are encouraged to tie into the themes of the exhibition.  Films submitted should have a maximum running time of five (5) minutes. Entries longer than the maximum will be disqualified.  Entries should be solely newly created works or previously created works that have not previously been distributed to the public (internet, theatrical distribution, television broadcast, or any other public dissemination).

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR FILM
Individuals or organizations who wish to enter The PAFA Film Competition must submit two (2) copies of their films in DVD format.  Participants may enter up to three (3) individual films, with each meeting the requirements listed previously.  Films will ONLY be accepted via U.S. Mail during the submission period.  Films may be submitted to:

Submissions must include a brief letter of intent, credits, and complete contact information.

Individuals or organizations who wish to have their entries returned after the close of The PAFA Film Project must include a self-addressed envelope with appropriate postage at the time of entering.

THE PAFA FILM PROJECT TIMELINE
All films must be submitted during the submission period, which begins on October 1, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. EST, and ends on November 30, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. EST.  Selection of potential finalist videos will begin on December 1, 2014. Finalists will be notified via email no later than January 5, 2015.

JUDGING
All submissions will be viewed and judged collaboratively by PAFA Museum staff and David Lynch and his studio.  All finalist films will be aired at The PAFA Film Project Screening on Thursday, January 8, 2015.

PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to the top three submissions and will be awarded at The PAFA Film Project Screening. Prices are as follows:

  • 1st Place: $100
  • 2nd Place: $50
  • 3rd Place: $25
