About these fabulous artists and their installations:

Rachel Udell uses soft, highly textured materials to create works that feel to her like sentient extensions of herself. By creating forms that feel alive, she counters human isolation.

One feature of Rachel’s installation at Lemon Hill is entitled : My social network, and creates an environment of crocheted netting, this piece and others literally weave and nest themselves into the features of the house, conversing and connecting physically with the craftsmanship of the old house's architecture and collection. The brilliant colors and plant-like qualities in Rachel's work lend themselves to our celebration of the spring -when life begins to emerge again in our parks!

Melissa Madonni Haims Uses recycled, reclaimed and rescued fabrics and yarn to create large-scale crocheted and knitted works mixed with found objects. Known as one of “the Philadelphia yarn bombers” she is a participant in the recent global phenomenon that includes wrapping inanimate objects with a colorful mix of yarns. Ms. Haims has installed this type of knit graffiti around the globe since early 2010 with a recent stop in Miami, where her work was featured in Art Basel, the country’s largest contemporary art fair. Her next stop is Mount Pleasant.

Melissa's soft sculpture installation: Hell (inspired by Dante's Inferno) will be warming up the empty fireplaces of Mount Pleasant, while her yarn-bombed balustrades bring bold color and lively rhythms into the colonial house.
