As I reflect on my childhood memories, I experience moments of both clarity and ambiguity. There is an unsettling vagueness in the past, yet it is paired with calming familiarity. My most recent body of work deals with issues involving the indistinctness of memory and reflection on mortality. My paintings are a combination of playful instinct and intuition, paired with guided and refined decision making. I begin a piece by mixing a palette of colors that express the emotional playfulness of a child. As the painting ages, the colors will develop and become more complex. I build a history with the painting that expresses memory and maturity.
